In Crook County, also known as the Cowboy Capital of Oregon, we really know how to throw a celebration for our western heritage! Every June and July, at the Crook County Fairgrounds in Prineville, the Crooked River Roundup Association hosts two fantastic events: a PRCA-sanctioned rodeo and the largest parimutuel horse races in the state.
For 2026, mark your calendars for the rodeo from June 26-28 and the thrilling horse racing from July 9-12.
Steve Holliday, the President of the Crooked River Roundup Association, says it perfectly: “The Crooked River Roundup is an iconic part of the fabric of the Prineville community.” It’s a family-friendly event that has been cherished for generations, giving us all a chance to celebrate our roots, reconnect with neighbors, and welcome visitors.
As Jason Snider, the Rodeo Chairman, puts it: “We’re grateful for the more than 500 local volunteers who help put the event on.” We encourage everyone, locals and visitors alike, to come experience the true essence of western culture in the Cowboy Capital of Oregon!
