High Points

The Oregon State University (OSU) Extension Service has been a vital source of research-backed, non-formal educational programs within Crook County since 1914. This crucial work is accomplished by organizing educational tours, professional conferences, hands-on workshops, and practical demonstrations.

Faculty and staff stationed directly within Crook County specialize in key areas, including 4-H & Youth Development, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Education, Livestock management, and Crop Production.

In Crook County, the 4-H organization represents a foundational community resource where local youth develop, explore, and cultivate essential lifelong competencies through hands-on, practical education. For over a hundred years, 4-H has championed the philosophy of ‘learning by doing’ for young individuals aged 5 through 19, a commitment that thrives strongly right here in Central Oregon.

From raising livestock and engaging in creative arts to exploring STEM fields, developing culinary expertise, or embarking on outdoor adventures — Crook County 4-H offers meaningful engagement for diverse interests. Our participants don’t merely attend activities; they actively take initiative, acquire practical knowledge, and achieve success — supported by dedicated volunteers and a local community that deeply invests in their potential.
